On July 4th, Silicon Valley Sunshine Interact’s club member Angela Rao co-hosted and organized a block party to celebrate their neighborhood’s cultural diversity and shared identity as a community. Angela, assisted by club member Claire Rao, planned various activities and materials necessary for the party and went door to door to 52 households to distribute flyers for the event. Angela prepared decorations for the party and arranged various activities to promote community bonding. Neighbors were encouraged to bring a breakfast dish to share, allowing attendees to try a variety of flavors and cuisines. Through food and conversations, neighbors developed new relationships. Angela also led kids in decorating their bikes in theme for Independence Day and entertained them with crafting. Thank you to Angela and Claire for helping organize a vibrant social event for their community.
