Silicon Valley Sunshine Interact(SVIC) is a community service club part of the Interact District 5170, and sponsored by the Palo Alto University Rotary Club. Sunshine Interact was founded by two students, Eric Yap(Palo Alto High School) and Brandon Wang(Gunn High School) in 2017. The pair started Sunshine Interact because they wanted to create a service club that could provide opportunities beyond the ones of school-specific service clubs. Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self,” and Sunshine Interact dedicates itself to cultivate young students’ commitment to serving their community, and for members to grow into strong leaders and community members. The club is made up of local teens largely from Palo Alto and Los Altos, who love community service as it creates tangible change within the community, and it betters not only others but oneself as well.
