On February 25th, WizChinese and Palo Alto Chinese Parents’ Club (PACPC) hosted the 2024 Lunar New Year Festival at Mitchell Park Community Center from 11:30 AM to 5 PM to celebrate the Year of the Dragon, a significant event for many in the local community. The over 10K attendees were able to try a variety of dishes and snacks such as lamb skewers, boba, bento boxes, and pastries. Vendors also presented many cultural crafts and traditions including paper cutting, mahjong, mask painting, shuttlecock, traditional clothing, and calligraphy. The celebration concluded with a host of performances from traditional Chinese dances to Tanngu (Chinese drum) performances by elderly citizens to lion dances. Silicon Valley Sunshine Interact helped organize the event in the months leading up to it. Day of, club members set up the venue, distributed red envelopes to attendees at the entrance, volunteered to help the event run smoothly, and cleaned up afterwards.
