On September 17, from 1 to 4 pm, Silicon Valley Sunshine Interact (SVSI) hosted the Welcome Fair & Exhibition of Asian Americans alongside WizChinese and Palo Alto Chinese Parent’s Club (PACPC) at Palo Alto Art Center Auditorium. Members of SVSI spent the summer crafting posters and presented them for audience members at the event. The posters enlightened the audience about various facets of Asian American society, highlighting its unique history, diversity and contribution to the greater community. The six posters touched on the garment workers strike, Asian American immigration, Asian American cultural institutions, Asian American movements in the mid 1960s, Japanese internment camps, Anti-Asian political legislation. Major organizations and members of the Palo Alto community attended the event, including the PTAC, PIE, Dreacatchers, CAC, San Jose Chinese Historical & Cultural Club, and PAUSD Superintendent Don Austin. SVSI arrived early to assist in setting up the area as well as cleaning up afterwards.
